Planning a day hike through the mountains with us? Great choice! To make sure your trip is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable, here’s what you’ll want to pack. Even for a single-day adventure, conditions in the can shift quickly — preparation goes a long way.
Essential Gear
Daypack: Sturdy and comfortable, with enough space for food, water, extra layers, and safety gear.
Navigation Tools: A map of the trail, compass, and/or GPS unit (don’t rely solely on a phone—signal can be spotty).
Headlamp or Flashlight: With fresh batteries, just in case your hike runs longer than expected.
First Aid Kit: Include bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, blister treatment, and any personal medications.
Clothing
Weather-appropriate layers: Moisture-wicking base layer, insulating mid-layer, and a waterproof/windproof outer shell.
Comfortable hiking pants or shorts: Quick-drying, durable materials work best.
Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes: Make sure they’re broken in before you go.
Hat and sunglasses: For sun protection.
